1.6/1.9 diesel. Which is best?
I'm interested in finding out what MPG people are getting from their 1.6 and 1.9 diesels. I imagine the 1.6 is a bit underpowered, which might mean it's less economical than the 1.9. Is that the case, or is it all down to the way you drive?
cheers

I get 30mpg with mine. Yeh its under powered on acceleration/hills etc.
You gotta drive em like you love em and treat em gently coz they dont have much low down torque even with a turbo.

Yes Owen, but if you've a humungous hi-top then you've enough storage to spare
We had our's done 3 years ago (65 ltr terroidal tank) and although we lost 70% of our rear wardrobe it's 100% the best thing we've ever done with the van. You no longer even think how much it's going to cost you for your holiday travel.
Re the diesel options ... aren't you forgeting the 1.7na. or are you TRYING to forget the 1.7na
Ian.

Only if you want to loose storage space in your van to accomodate a large gas tank
if you had a decent conversion, you would have enough storage......mines in a space you dont even have in a westfaliure

mine paid for itself AND the van ages ago.....and IF they do raise the price and it ever catches petrol up, i'll flick the switch the other way and carry on,without the smell of manky chips following me.....without a que of tractors waiting to pass me to escape the stink

What - forget the 1.7d ?
An awesome engine - gave me 35-40 mpg and 170k miles that did before it blew up!
And no, before you ask i havent driven a petrol. And thats a good thing. I don't want to go fast up hills.
