Syncronauts Shelter Tent - Fund raising

Post by HarryMann »

Hi all Syncronauts

History:

At our recent events we have had the use of the club's old Spragman's, which took some damage at Coney Farm this year, has been fixed (thanks v.much SyncroPete) and is now being returned to the club as their backup tent.

At Syncropendence last weekend we took our 3m square Khyam gazebo which is smaller and lighter to transport, very quick to erect, and served our puposes well... shelter for the big gas barbecue, the salad spread table and for quite a few peeps under inclement weather.

It was suggested that a similar but slightly larger quick erect style shelter tent might suit us just fine for the future...

Julia and Roger started the ball rolling with a donation, and Russel also left us with a generous contribution on Monday, so we've already made a start...

We are currently thinking of getting a Khyam hexagonal gazebo, just a bit larger than our one.

Any Syncronauts who would like to contribute to this fund can:-

PayPal payments to syncronauts.fees@ntlworld.com or PM JennyTyger for direct electronic transfer bank details.

Thanks

How about a "Ez Up" style tent, plenty on e-bay going for not very much!

Thanks Simon... when passing through Herts next, maybe come and do some arm twisting, if you can beat JennyTyger in those stakes :)

TBH, I've seen those scissor style ally roof supports collapse in moderate gusty winds, and once bent, never the same again

The one we think should do it, Sharon has found a place doing them for £139, so a tenner from most of the Syncronauts should about cover it... we've already got about £50 so if £ keeps coming in, we can get the Khyam hexagonal gazebo... and with our 3 x 3m one, the idea is the barbie and food table will go in that easily and the hexagonal one will be large enough for a seating and eating area - should the weather prove wet or very windy.

Chances are it will at some time again the future... let's hope so :P

3 sides of the hex ones can be put up as additional awning space, and any two of ours when cooking.

Keep trying, we're very open to suggestions... :)

Whoa! Overwhelming response and generosity everyone, many Thanks!

Hope you all get to benefit at some time in the future...

FYI - We generally make no profit from events, occasionally lose a little, so any funds we have in the bank are from fund raising of some kind or another e.g. Syncronauts calendar, fees for magazine articles, whip rounds etc.

Thanks everyone who contributed. We have bought the Khyam hex shelter (apparently tested in a wind tunnel, so hopefully will stand up to the great British weather :) ).

Yes Simon was close by at the time, but believe the reference was to a wind tunnel of somewhat lesser capability :D
