My blower doesnt blow!

Post by purplechugster »

My blower has stopped blowing

Not that I need it much at this time of year (just open the windows...) but its nice to be able to de-mist the windows, move some heat about bla bla bla.

So unlike my usual method of dismantling tangentially-related portions of the van to find the cause of the problem, I'll ask before I start - What do you reckon is the most likely suspect?

Had a look at the fuses, they seem okay. So where next before I get sidetracked and dismantle the alternator or something equally reckless?
One T25 in London, another one in Sydney.

Usually seized if it hasn't been used in a while. Plenty threads on here about the blower unit. Pig to get at though!

Its a dashboard out job. all they need is a sqirt of WD40 and all is good again. But getting the lid of the heater box to access it is a case of extreme violence. If you use my violent approach the when you come to piece the box back together, use Duck Tape to seal the cracks. My van now wistles from behind the dash at speeds above 50mph.

Lucky for me mines a 1.6d and I am rarely at such brake neck velocities.

For the sake of about £5 I'd be inclined to buy a new dashboard switch before I did anything else. Had the opposite problem - I couldn't turn the blower off when I started the engine. Bought a new one from GSF - problem sorted!
