Bog chemicals

Post by T'Onion »

Has anyone tried the tablets or the blue bags in their bog rather than the liquid ?

I like the idea of carring tablets instead of the liquid , and can you get the pink (top flush) stuff in tablet form ?

Last couple of months we've been using Dri Kem granules in the bottom tank

They do the job just as well as the liquid variety but without any worries if the container tips over / gets knocked over in the cupboard. Haven't seen a similar version for the flush tank though. The granules were a bit pricey (£8 I think, from a local caravan place) but it looks like they're going to last for a good while :D

Blue bags

Post by Fritz »

Hi ya,,,,,,,erm yes when we first got ourselves a potty I used the 'so called' disolvable blue bags,,,,,,,,,,,it was a messy job but I kept me shirt on.
The ones I bought where the real Mcoy Elsan thingies and even these were stuck together and bags leaked powder, so in the end i was guessing the amount of loose powder needed to do the job.

Personally I prefere the gallon can of liquid when replenishing the bottom tank fluids,,,,,I seem to be able to judge it easier when things get messy.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,

PS, I suppose the blue bags don't take up much room when compared to a gallon can of liquid......
One day you will find me,,

I use the blue baggies, never had a problem with them, the container is nice and small rather than a large bottle. Think mine are Thetford Aqua-Kem ones, no issues with them sticking together, just chuck one in the bog dribble of water, slosh around jobs done :D

i just had to replenish my chemical supply, and i bought a "ultra concentrate" version of the liquid, a gallons worth in a half gallon can, but i always decant it into a even smaller bottle - storage is at a premium, and i dont use much, as i only empty the bog when its full, which its is, so i'll be trying the new stuff out this month, let you know next time i have to empty it if it worked........ should be about AUgust bank holiday time i think

In desperation - i ended up buying a litre of the CampingGaz chemical stuff. It was dirt cheap and i can see why - not very thick at all.

However, i havent actually emptied the bog yet - so can't tell if its worked.

Might have to do that before the techy.....

I've heard stories of you T'Onion - your a one.....
