Mach 5 Wheels

Post by garyd »

I think I remember seeing a picture (or video) somewhere on here of a syncro running Mach 5 wheels. These are made by Matt Lee and use five curved tubes as spokes.

Anyone want to confirm my memory by owning up to having these? I am thinking about getting some myself and would appreciate a chat.

thanks
Garyd

It's Dai with the Mach 5's on his syncro, apparently there are only 2 sets in existence and the guy who makes them wont make any more :( . Seems there's more money to be made and less hassle from sticking to Land Rovers

Thanks for the replies. It sounds that one or two (or more?) of you have already followed this route. Do you think that he might reconsider if there was a group of people wanting sets of wheels?

I herd the Mach 5 buisness was for sale not long ago. No idea if it actully changed hands though. I think with that in mind the original (current?) owner has limited interest in the hole operation (other buisness lines taking too much time) and so you can see why they aren't interested in any neash markets anymore. There are so many land rover owners willing to pay massive emounts of money for them it'd probubly cost them to ajust the jigs.

If it has changed hands though the current makers might be more willing to listen than last time someone enquired though!

Hi Pat, matt used to make one off fitment wheels ,but as far as i know he only ever made two sets for T25`s

I had both sets of 4 made about 4 years ago with the offset to match Audi A4, one set of which are on a friends two wheel drive T25 and the other were on my Syncro, but the welds cracked on the spokes of the front ones, when i rang him and told him what had happened he said that they were "competition spec" and as such there was no warranty with them.He later had a change of heart and rang me up saying that he had made me another set with the correct offset for the syncro. He had even had them powder coated in silver for me,Top bloke  since then as some of you know ive driven my syncro in some extreme situations and the only thing ive had to do with them is re-powder coat them :ok

He also had a pair made for a V6 trike I built in `99
