Remove panel behind front seats

Post by meggles »

:) Hi all, anyone know if I can remove (safely) the panel behind the front seats of my 1982 type 25. It is a twin rear door model. I have heard a lot of conflicting information from various sources. All I want is to be able to get in to rear without getting out of "cab" especially in bad weather! Anyone done this? Any probs or comments? Thanks

Thanks Guz, I guess it's OK then. I'll give it a go next weekend.

ripped mine out this afternoon.

remove seatbelts etc first, get everything
out the way.

approx 1-2" weld at the top each side that
holds the bar on, grind weld off, approx 5 plug
welds down the B post, a few more to the battery
box either side and it should come out.

just gotta grid back the welds to tidy stuff
up then source some vinyl to cover it all up,
easier than messing about with paint.

wear goggles and gloves and long sleeves !

Trouble is I decided to fit a storage unit and seat in rear but fastened to panel, and my "side on" sink and cooker unit are fastened to panel at the front end, also all electrical fittings i.e. fuse box and switches for rear fixtures like lights and water pump are fastened on here. I'll have to adapt this lot but still should be able to complete in a day or two. Thanks again for info. :)

cut a door like the postal vans and line the edge with rubber trim? if you make a hash they go for the whole bulk head.
