Hiya,
my van's sprung a leak, seems to be coming from the water pump to engine join, which I know from bitter experience is a bitch to get at.
weird thing is it only leaks when cool...
why would it start leaking when the seals are un-disturbed?
where's cheapest for a new pump, and how much are they? wondering if I should replace it if it's got to come off anyway...
by the way, it's an '89 dg with the more sensible pipework.

coolant leak, help!
Try a spanner on the bolts. Leaking when cool(I guess after running a bit)... increased presure..... Not leaking when hot..... Every thing expanded and sealed the joint.

Health has now stopped me camping Etc.

Atwat of a job,,,,,,Not really !!!!!!
Dave, I think you will find it really is your water pump that is leaking and belive it or not it is designed to do that once it gets to a certain age.
Aftermarket pumps are good enough to do the job, and will test your skills as a mechanic when you come to replace it..........Go for it if it wants one Just do it.........

Dave ,sorry for the poor explanation,,,,,,,,You may find water will bypass the spindle seal in the pump and then run down the casing via the hole on the underside of the pump.
My guess is they are designed to do this to indicate an imminent problem.
