Sliding Window for Devon Moonraker

Post by Rustuponmyhands »

Can anyone help with where I can source a sliding/louvre window for a 1983 Devon Moonraker. With global warming my dogs are getting fried
whenever we go out (us humans are alright since we are sitting up the front with the driver/passenger windows wound down).
I've tried our local scrap yards but all they have are sliding/louvre windows from other conversions which are too small.
Were Devons ever converted with sliding windows?
I live in the Midlands but am willing to travel to get one fitted.

I'm not sure but I think they were fitted with louvres but as Devons used the caravelle sized widows you may be in luck at a VW show and find a slider...louvres are like hens teeth and traders know it

Thanks for the info, I'll keep looking.
Somone did mention changing one of the windows for the perpex ones that are fitted to caravans. Has anyone any experience of doing this? good/bad idea?

I have an 1980 Devon, and to my knowledge I've never seen one with factory fitted sliding windows.

Devon window

Post by trundletruc »

My Devon Moonraker had a sliding window behind the driver. I have now swopped this for a louvre window.

Still have the old window but the glass cracked as we got it out! Send me a message if you are interested in mending it?

Be careful about the size as there are smaller ones available that fitted the later vans with a different sliding door left or right side.
