starting from hot.....sorted

Post by neilfreir@hotmail.com »

hiya

i posted a message a while back about problems i was having when i was trying to start from hot..quick run down.......van would start and run sweet,i would stop then when i started up again shortly after it would only run for about 1 minute before cutting out , then i would have to wait about an hour before it would start again.

changed the fuel line and filter and even tried running without the fuel cap to see if there was a vacuum......still the same problem.

just taken the fuel pump off(which works) to find the plonker in a german garage hadn't put the correct gaskets on.there is a plastic mounting under the pump that should be full of grease with a cover gasket over it....well that wasn't there so the rod wasn't getting any lubrication and must have been sticking when it was hot.

fingers crossed thats me all go from now,i can stop for fuel or a pee without having to wait for an hour.

thanks for all your replays, hope this helps someone in the future.

I am loving your optimisim that you post what you think has fixed it after you have fixed it but before you have tested it.. of course if I start getting hot start problems again I will turn my nose up at the idle stabilizer unit or timing and try the fuel pump instead.. my moto was for ages always stop at a petrol station at the start of the journey and put enough fuel in and dont stop anywhere until you get there..

I hope you have solved your issues. ;)
