More lpg questions........
Okey dokey, we finally got her to run right at last.
Got the new bosch plugs and gapped them as previous thread, put new ignition leads in as well and then checked my static timing and set it perfect to 5 btdc.
On the unleaded she ran better than ever, super sweet at idle and picks up brilliantly. But i had the same result with the lpg, the lumpy and irregular running, that was until i knocked off (by mistake one of the vacumn leads that goes from the airbox to the carb.
REVELATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, she ran brilliantly, so i realised then that she must be running lean on the gas.
Anyway this leads to my question (thank god for that, i hear you say), what does the screw that is in the valve in the middle of the gas pipe going to the pipe do ? (pic below)

Once i had screwed this all the way in she runs brilliant, it's as if i just attached a turbo to her. It took 6 full turns to screw it all the way in.
Any advice appreciated.....(apologies for the long post)

The vacuum pipe from the air cleaner is blocked up on our Gasure converted late DG, and so is the one which did go from the aircleaner box to the warm air unit (which is removed anyway). You still have the warm air unit looking at your photo of the whole engine bay.
Sounds like you need to have a little chat with Mr Shaw.
Ian.

Cheers for that, i will do.
I am starting to think that this "conversion" wasn't done half as professionally as i first thought.

Turning it anticlockwise will richen, and vice versa.
It isn't the only adjustment though, there will be an idle adjustment on the vap too.
Andy
Found the idle one, had to screw that a long way out to get it to slow down.
Runs perfect now though, been to work and back in it today and it didn't miss a beat.

What vaporiser is it?
turning the main valve all the way in should cause it to run very lean if at all.. and the idle screw all the way out will richen the idle up a lot... normally the idle needs to be out 2 or 3 turns and then adjust the main valve to get good running at 2500 rpm...
sounds like there is either a fault with the vaporiser or something isnt set up right...
Oh.. 5deg static needs checking with a timing light at idle with vac disconected (and blanked). you should be able to run 7.5 deg with 95UL to..

Right, i have adjusted the main valve out a touch to 1 turn out as i didn't want to be running over lean and cooking the engine. After doing that i did have to wind the idle screw back in a lot to around the 2-3 turns out mark. Still drives excellent, have blocked off the vac pipes coming out of the back of the carb, took off the warm air control unit and that seemed to help as well.
I think I am going to have to go to a garage at some point and get everything properly checked out.
Anyone know a good one around the east London area ?
