removing sliding side-windows and rubbers.

Post by wasserleaker »

howdoo all,
need to look at removing these this summer to sort out some corrosion problems, rust bubbles below bottom edge of side windows, [no doubt worse than it looks when they're out]
any tips on removing these from anyone who's done it?
once the locking/trim strip is out do they come out fairly easily?
will most likely need to put new rubbers in after any welding repairs are done if necess.
thinking of getting the JK bundle pack of every rubber on the van, as the screen is a bit leaky too. when they say 'no trim' in the JK catalogue, do they mean you'll need to re-use your trim, or are the rubbers solid like the old cal look beetle replacement rubbers with no trim strip?
cheers muchly for any help! :)

I have found VW shows a valuable source of rubbers, felts and seals. (particularly vanfest)

as for the windows then yes it practically falls out once the locking strips have been removed

I think it's a two person jobby though...start with a corner.

I didn't fit new ones as they were still serviceable

Hi

I am looking at getting a full set of rubbers for my bus and have been told JK rubbers are not up to much.
"Status VW" and OEM look to be the best but they are pricy. NER are said to be the best if you don't have status money.

If anyone has used NER can you let us know what they think?
