cooking oil

Post by Beach Bum »

Thinking of experimenting with my pug 306 1.9td. Does it matter what oil you use as long as it is new and what ratio
Always remember one thing my friend, this is the real thing. Life is not a dress rehearsal. So live life to the full with your BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont do it unless you pre heat the oil, it woulnt do much damage but will build up over time. With clean oil its the thickness that does it.
Its big, Its Blue, Its mine!

Dude, like the man says, don't do it without a proper conversion job, you will kill your fuel pump (not cheap).

Check out this post (and a few others on here) there's a ton of info on the web about running on veg oil WITHOUT killing your engine.

http://archive.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=16836

It started off about biodiesel, but we hijacked it and went off on one about veg oil. Theres a couple of good links in there as well, like 'just_vegin' s website for conversion bits & pieces.

Check this post out too, we can soon use veg oil without paying duty (legally, I mean)

Makes the cost and hassle of converting well worth while. And it's great to drive something that pumps out chipshop/donut stall smells :D

merc 300 , ran on 50/50 with derv/new cooking oil , no probs! there is so much on the net you could still be reading in a years time . in the summer went to 70/30 (oil/derv) . IIRC the bosch pumps will pretty much handle anything , cav + lucas dont like it . changed my filter after 500 them 1000 miles as oil strips all the poo from ya tank/lines and dumps it in filter.
