Heading for Coast to Coast...

Post by HarryMann »

tomorrow, having got my rebuilt engine in and running finally.

Just to say - Many thanks to Andy Simpson and Andy McClements for turning up Sunday to give me a hand, lots of sage diesel advice at other times from ASimpson, SBaxter and others... who may wish to remain nameless

The old duck is running, goes like stink, but everything's not quite perfect yet... Time!

but hope to have a cracking weekend, the routes and waypoints look fantastic, KevH has obviously put an enormous amout of work into planning this event, and whatever the weather expect the sights, sounds and smells to impinge on my rather frayed senses... in a positive and calming way :)

See you all at the Sellafiled visitor centre, Sat morning..

Jenny's saying 9am, I'm saying 10, have a few 'issues' still, and leaving for what might be better part of 1,000 miles after complete engine rebuild, need some instruments at least, having only 20 miles to bed it in and set it all up so far...

Jenny WILL agree to disagree

But WILL see you later, 4~ 5pm?

Clive, that's great news ! I'm already at Aidans, hooking up with Matt Flint early-mid afternoon. Aidan sends his regards. Planning to camp in Wasdale. See you tomorrow morning.

I don't know what it is with gearbox builders, they seem to be under the impression that your not willing to look inside and will tell you all sorts of lies as to what they have done, and you have to trust them, there used to be loads around here, only a handfull left now and the really local ones I won't touch! had my leg lifted a couple of times.

Im sure some of them have a quick nosey, repair the fault and sell them on as a fully recon gearbox and charge you accordingly, then when they go wrong they can afford to put a few bearing in that you have been charged for but didn't fit last time.
