Is the air inlet clear ( both of them )
The one outside next to the exhaust and the one on the body of the unit
The one on the unit is at the opposite end from the heat exit
its round and unscrews/pull off and there a wire mesh that can get blocked
then if all of those are clear, then look at the wire mesh that surrounds the glow plug, they get clogged up and break down

Failing that it to the ebber man to have a look at the outercasing and the combusion chamber

just one thing is the exhaust smoking alot ?

Hi there t-onion, I am just outside Heathrow. I shall as you say, check the inlets. I know the one next to the exhaust is ok as I have renewed it, but have not come accross the other I shall check it out.
Ps the exhaust is smoking but not that much...
thanks lhd..............

Hi there T-onion I am not sure we are talking about the same eber,as mine has no screw off/pull off bit on the end.

Here is a link to a pic of the one that I have,

http://cgi.ebay.de/Eberspaecher-Standhe ... dZViewItem

both inlet and outlet are next to each other, and the case is a rectangular box which bolts to the bottom of the van.
Maybe I will just have to dismantle the casing and take a look.
Although I fear if dismantled, it will be hard to put back because of the rusty screws...
many thanks lhd.................

Yeah, i think ill start it another couple of times first to see if its just residue(had to check the dictionary for that one...lol) cause it smells in between diesel and electric if that makes any sense? which hopefully might burn off, failing that I'll have to remove the casing as you say.
By the way is that the same casing you had spare in blue, as i am almost sure that the screws on the casing will be rusted in place?
thanks for that pdf by the way.....although nine speken de deutch?
I wil have to spend some time on babble fish....lol
thanks lhd.................
