Gas Service on Cooker & 3 Way Fridge URGENTLY NEEDED!

Hi,

Having recently decided to sell our panel van for a proper camper (i found a lovely Devon in beige and brown, very retro and loads of history) I spent one afternoon testing the hob and grill on our drive. After a lovely cup of tea i then turned my attentions to testing the fridge on gas. I knew it worked on electric as it has been tested on mains and also car battery.

3 pushes on the ignitor, and away she went, a lovely blue flame in the pilot light. After 5 seconds i smelt gas and with that flames were visable behind the fridge. I switched off the gas and to my relief the fire went out.

Having changed my pants i went back to the van and put the fridge back on the mains. Thankfully it still worked, and we had cold milk when we wnet to Standford Hall!

I am now terified and wondered if anyone knows a reliable person / company who could give my gas installation a once over. I am based in south Lincolnshire.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

I used acompany called safegas that were in the thomson local/yellow pages afew years back, they come to you which is great. Not mega cheap BUT I reckon if you try one of the small companies in the thomson who specialise in all makes you'll hit the mark. My 3 way wouldn't light, jet was caked up, think it was about £60 including the part which I thought at the time was reasonable seeing as how they came to me.

Hi everyone,

When running the Electrolux RM122/RM123 absorbtion fridge on gas, you should get a blue flame at the back of the fridge (you should be able to see this via the pilot light inspection flap on the bottom left hand corner of the fridge).

The Electrolux RM122 (and RM123) absorbtion fridges sometimes do have problems with the "pilot jet" being blocked up. This is surrounded by what looks like a heat gun nozzle.

To unblock it, do the following (this is all from memory):-

- Turn off the gas

- Remove the lower cover and gas knob from the fridge. There are four crossheaded screws which hold it in place.

- Undo the gas pipe connection at the bottom of the fridge. This will be fairly obvious and is located at the lower front of the fridge.

- Now undo the outer flue vent cover from outside the campervan and remove it. Make sure that you know how it goes back together.

- Now undo the remaining self tapper crosshead screw on each side of the fridge. From memory there are four self tapper screw per side.

- Now carefully pull the fridge away from the kitchen unit. Tilt the bottom of the fridge upwards as you pull it away from the kitchen unit and make sure that the flue does not foul any part of the interior.

- With the fridge removed, look for the piece of metal that looks like a heat gun nozzle. This is in effect the pilot light and is located at the rear left hand side of the fridge.

- Undo the self tappers which secure the rear plate and the "pilot light" in place.

- Remove the pilot light "heat gun nozzle" and pull it away from the pilot jet.

- You should now be able to undo the nut which holds the pilot jet onto the gas pipe at the bottom of the fridge.

- Now very carefully unblock the jet with a very thin piece of wire (this will be difficult to see). Do not enlargen the pilot jet hole. Blast it out with compressed air afterwards.

- Assembly is the reverse of removal, but you should make sure that the gas pipe connections are fairly tight to ensure that gas does not escape from these joins.

One other thing to note is that whilst you are putting the fridge back into the campervan is to make sure that the flue pipe at the back of the fridge does not get damaged during the process.
