Fuel Tank Return Line

Post by west E »

Just staring to take out my fuel tank, as i'm reading the wiki and haynes it states i should have a fuel return line. I don't!! the pipe is coming out of the tank about 4 inches then is blocked off. Should i have a fuel return line and if i should where does it connect to at the engine end of things. Sorry forgot to says its a 2ltr Aircooled.

cheers

The return line usually comes from the carb (and is usually opposite the supply line).

You really need the return line connected. The pump will be pushing more fuel than your engine needs and if it has nowhere to go it may soon find a way out, especially when on the motorway.

I believe you wullie. I bow to your knowlege. I had a two litre 77 bay and I am sure that had a return line but it was too long ago so I'm not gonna argue. I really know very little about the T25 air dryers.

if yer bay was an american fuel injection spec one then you would be right. carb euro 2 litres and any other type 4 injined bay don't have return pipes either.

No, not US spec, a common twin carb jobbie, so probably no return line. I stand corrected. 8)
