Westy tap replacement?

Post by alexparry »

I have a 1983 westy, and recently was a little heavy handed in the kitchen and broke the tap. I think I can fix it with some glue but if I can't I'd really like to know where I can get a replacement.

Also what colour paint do I need to get to do little touch up stuff on my van, its the original colour but I don't know where to get it. Cheers.

I'm in the same boat.
the problem with Guzle's ones is that they are from the US and have an extra connector called city water which you somehow have to block off.
I got one about a year ago and managed to block it for a time but then it leaked again.
And guess what.......whilst trying to fix it I broke it.....
the problem with the c/w connector id that I think the thread being US is af and not metric.........
bet that's confused you.........
Sorry I had better add to that, the problem with the c/w connection is that unless its blocked, when you turn the tap and the water is pumped from the w/tank it just pours out of the c/w connector.
look carefully on Gunzles site and you will see the extra connector.

thats the fella. Pretty flimsy, but you know, it worked well enough and I'm proper angry with myself for breaking it and causing all this hassle.

Hi

If your looking for the paint code for your westy it should be under the drivers seat where the battery is stored there should be a relay screwed into the metal under that should be a silver sticker with the original paint code on it. Take this code to any decent paint mixing company and they should be able to match it for you. Don't bother with halfords you need a proper company, i.e Hex holdings is our local one or Moreli hope this helps. Or you can take the van to a good place and they should mix it allowing for the fading we got an exact match for ours from Moreli this time.

Why not convert it to a T4 tap/shower head assembly.

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2 ... tymods.htm

The tap is available from Guenzl.
http://www.guenzl-classicparts.de/

Click on Westfalia T4 and then Wasserversorgung.Third item down 100.94Euros.

Did think of it steve but it says part now unavailable so thought forget it.
Owlets although it looks the same take a peek ( dont remove it thats how I broke mine, I think the plastic probably becomes brittle), take the draw out and see if it has one (euro) or two (us).

Will have a look Rob..........my 83 Westy had a tap like yours but my new 86 Westy has a tap like the one I posted from the Gunzl site, thought they might be interchangable.

I just spoke to Gunzle (very helpful) and the only ones they stock now have city water connectors as the old ones have become obsolete.
Although the good news is he supplies a screw or cap to shut iff off and will send one if requested.
35.60 euros delivered to the UK.
