I've got a 1989 South african 2.1 Microbus, very much like a caravelle. It is fitted with cental locking that doesn't operate the sliding door. Should it? It's fitted with a 4 pin sprung switch that looks like it should send power to the lock, the springs in it are lazy, its a sealed unit so i can't get it apart, it bears the part number 253 959 375, GSF can't help......can anyone else please?
Thanks

Slider Central Locking
Yes this door should also operate with all the others when the central locking is being used. Try to check if all of the 4 pin contacts are touching each other when the door is closed, also you'll have to remove the slider door panel to check a few things where the action take place.
It is a good idea to check the block connectors to the actuator/sloenoid as these have been know to corroded quite badly and cause all sorts of problems. Or get someone to operate the locking system while you waggle the wires in that area just incase one or more are broken.
Then if all else fails you may have to find a friendly auto electrician to check things out with his meter/test lamp etc.

Thanks for that, I've removed the four pin connector, there is no wire to connect to the bottom pin, top white wire, second yellow, third brown. I can't find another loose wire in the door pillar, does anyone know if there should be one......I assume there should be as there are four pins......I've spoken with a vw dealer given them the part number they will have to order one from Germany, we're gonna go to vanwest will anyone there have one?
Thanks
