Temp gauge needle doesn't move

Post by Ruby »

The temp gauge on my '87 1.6 TD has just stopped working, the LED still comes on to self test with the ignition switch but, the gauge needle is out of sight on the left hand side of the gauge.

I've run the bus over my normal route (which normally see's the gauge towards the centre). I stopped and checked for loose wires etc and as I wiggled the wire on the sensor (next to gear box end injector not on the endof the head) (Its brown with a red trace) it fell off.

Could this be the problem, the terminal being badly corroded?

Any help gratefully recieved, I am supposed to be taking the family away to christen it this weekend

As with a few later posts, the plug! Shame I wasn't near the computer this weekend to see 'em!! Still, fiddling passed an hour waiting for the tide to go out so we could get to the pub!
