i have a van with one of those hard sided pop tops and want to fit a high top,any ideas apart from brute force or lkossing the sealer?
seems ashame to smash the roof up when the fiberglass art is ok!

If you can get at the inside somehow (by taking the pup-up bit out?)...thin cutting wire (or very strong dental floss), sawing motions and shedloads of patience.
Otherwise you could try a Dremel-thingy and shedloads of patience.
I'm not aware of anything chemical that will loosen the bond ...but I'm genereally unawares

I would say a bit of thin piano wire from your local model shop with a piece of dowel at each end to make handles. Probably easier to push the wire through the sealer before putting the second handle on. Then with one person on the inside and another on the out saw it off a bit at a time. you may have to slide some shims in to stop the sealer re sticking it self back together. Good luck.
Oh and how much for the roof if you get it off in one bit?

Never enough time
OOOH! Replaced my Autohomes rigid elevating roof with a high top, if its the same type the only way we got ours off was by disassembling to elevating bit (Very heavy!!) and then cutting the fibreglass with a grinder leaving about 50mm stuck to the roof which bashed off easy because you could work both sides. Our roof was fixed in a multitude of places with plates, bolts, rivetts and PU gule!
Removing the old was an a***, fitting the high top was a doddle!
