To trim or not to trim?

Well, she's gone today for her respray - drive looking empty - spare room looking full of tat and awning

Just going to order the new window rubbers and am wondering about the trim on the pop up. 1980 side elevating Devon - 3/4 with a luggage carrier/rack bit over the front.

Do I replace the trim or not have anything ?

(had to cut the bit over the tail gate off last year as it was hanging down and wouldnot fix back on). Would it look OK without? Does it serve a purpose? Or should I not be so tight. If I do order new - any ideas how much I'd need. (before you say I can measure - she has gone off into the hills so it's not that easy - and I'm being azy. If there is fount of knowledge out there why not use it!)

worthwhile project IMHO, I replaced the pop top seal on my full length devon. the old one jus kept fallin' off when raised, and did it whistle whilst drivin

. now its all nice and quiet and the wind wont get up and underneath whilst drivin FAST.
If you cant get to measure yours, go for the full length devon pop top seal and keep the left over as spare, failing that you can buy it "per metre" . . . . .Gary

If the other stuff will do then all the better. Would it be easy to fit to the luggage rack? How much surplus is there in a full length one - as I will need 2 extra widths?

Our's is missing the seal which means there isn't enough possitive feedback holding the fasteners in place. Rattling along the m4 over the weekend, both of the fasteners rattled themselves off and the wind blowing under the roof managed to elevate the roof whilst doing 70(ish). Scary, but very very funny. We don't even have particularly good lifters on the roof, so the wind must've generated tons of 'up-force'.

our lifters will nearly take me with them - so maybe I won't risk it

When we picked up the van my four year old opened the passenger door on the M25 - that was scary

It is now always firmly locked!!

JK were not sure about which to suggest - couldn't figure out what sort of roof/luggage rack we've got. I was always under the impression it was a Devon - but they say no - not with a luggae rack! I will prob have to go with the westafalia type trim . But ant enlightenment would be appreciated. Sorry can't manage a piccy at present -van gone, and can't find an existing one to show.
