was just trying to trace a small leak on the vacuum system on my syncro and came across 2 pipes in the engine bay flayling about, followed them back and they go to a banjo fitting on each gear box, so I guess there just vents.
My question is were should they terminate and how, should I fit some little air filters?
They just seem to rest on top of the motor at the moment an one of them is a bit melted at the end so that can't be were there ment to be.

Higher than any wading water comes, so just behind the engine firewall they're shileded so not a bad spot, can tie them up there with a few cable-ties

..on this subject. On my kombi the small 90-degree piece that connects from the rubber bung on the (petrol) bellhousing to the breather hose has snapped. Does anyone know the part number ?

The white 90 deg union that fits into the rubber bung does'nt have a part number on it on mine. The rubber bung is marked 025 101 109, might come as one bit, you never know. Looks like some windscreen washer parts could be made to fit.
