First out of county trip in the bus and it's leaking oil!

Post by The_blue »

90 mile round trip and a steady 60mph! first real trip after bringing the scrapper back to life!

Noticed as i parked up then moved it to a better space 2 mins later that a fair size puddle of out had turned up :(

Looked underneath and sure enough oil was leaking out at about 4 drips a second! It had stopped buy the time i'd done what i was doing (BBQ with the folks) and isn't dripping now i'm home.

Without getting underneath it looked to be the flywheel end at the bell housing seal. BUt could have been running to the lowest point.

Whats the most likley seal or join to leak that end?

It's a 2l CU engine, the dipstick level is the same as when i checked this morning (must have know it was coming) but the engine is over filled (3mm over max on the flat)

Im no expert mate, but when mine was leaking oil it was the push rod seals that was the problem, also had a gasket replaced as well.
Im afraid im one of those people who if it plays up in anyway it goes straight to the garage to be fixed so i would not have a clue or indeed could be arsed to do it myself.
I do know that the push rod seals often leak on them though.

put a dab on your finger. If it smells rank its gearbox oil. If it doesn't, chances are its coming from inside the bellhousing via the flywheel seal.
