smoke from horn button

went to blast my horn yesterday no sound kept hand on button still nothing a few yards up the road smoke comes belshing out of said button. prized off button and disconected wires. plastic arround the metal contacts melted and contacts stuck together. have new button ordered from vw but why did this happen and if power there why did horn not blast and stay on or fuse blow

bad connections get hot.......... thats why.......
incorrect fuse, bad connection, knackered gay horn = smokey cab

as mocki ses m8,, dirty connection = high resistance (difficult fer lecky to get through) which causes heat. an electric fire is just high resistance wire which gets hot as electrickery tries to get thru it.
so your dash as turned into an electrickery fire :tsk
