T25 engine replacement advice needed :(

Post by SYNCRO »

Coming home from York this lunchtime and the engine gives out big time on the A1, big clouds of smoke and steam must'ave scare the crap out of the truck following me!! Pulled over and found masses of water leaking from the left bank of cylinders. AA called and said 3 head bolts had let go and the water had all gone. Engine now has what seems like a death rattle going on inside.

My question is who's the best supplier for a T25 1900 DG water cooled engine?? was looking at Remtec from a mates recommendation.....

Cheers Guys

--First call should be to your nearest VW dealer--see if they still have any remanufactured units available--the price will not be much higher than Remtec or VEGE

Sorry to hear that, as it's happened to me in almost the same way and is not very nice in so many ways

I suppose one +ve thing is that the rear chassis won't be rusting much any more :)
