How to sell a vehicle without being ripped off?

Post by Dan Wood »

Don't laugh - I've always part-ex'd my cars in the past!

Anyway, moving country soon and taking the van with me (of course!) - which means I need to sell my car. You hear all sorts of horror stories so I was looking for an idiot's guide to selling a car...

Anyone know of one?

Or can you talk me through how to do it?!

Ta...

If you get paid in cash or bankers draft, insist on taking them to the bank with you to pay them in.

It is a bit of a nuisance but you'll know if the payment is valid or not.

Don't bother with a cheque.

More seemingly inept VW un/related questions/statements will follow in due course.

Just under 40k on the clock and FSH.

N'owt wrong with it, it is just that we'll have enough on getting the wife's micra and our T3 across on t'ferry! I'm going to be using the van as my daily driver, so I hope it all works out. Should do with the amount of money Mr. Baxter wants from me at the moment!

Just been doing the rounds of advertising my car, including putting it on here :D
Someone put me on to Freeads its totally free to advertise, they make their money from folk calling up to contact buyers, but a friend of a friend sold their car on there in 3 days, so may be worth a go!
Has anyone seen my marbles?
No...oh, wait...I never had any :)
