Do stainless sports exhausts do anything on diesel engines?
I was thinking of replacing my exhaust with a stainless sports exhaust. I have a 1.6 JX engine. Would it serve any purpose aside from the obvious anti-corrosion properties and the appearance. Would there be any improvement in power, and also would it sound good? I know theres quite a good noise from my engine when its under load now from the exhaust, but would a sports exhaust be just a stupid idea or is it worthwhile? Id be getting it done along with fitting an intercooler.

Unbolt the standard rear silencer and run it with that off to see if you notice a difference, not a lot more noise. I think the turbo takes a lot of the noise out of it.
Turbos don`t like back pressure so a large diameter header pipe won`t do any harm, and a free-flow "silencer" as well.

Keep it real.

I agree but if you get a flexi as close to turbo as possible this should make it last. I have made 2 exhausts now for td syncros out of stainless so will have to see how they hold up, they are the 2 most un reliable ones in the country so the exhausts should last forever
