More powerful alternator?

Post by shepster »

What is the advantage of having a more powerful alternator (if any) i run quite a few goodies in my van and was wondering if there would be any point in upgrading to a 90amp one? and if so from which models i would get one from.

Cheers.

I think my 1.9DG drives a 90A alternator. Can't tell you much more as the van is at brickwerks for some TLC at the moment!

Absolutely no idea Kev. I saw one come up on ebay that looked right and got one. I had to alter the connections a little but its still going strong 2 years later. Worked for me.

Often, the price of these alternators is dictated by the model its assigned to. A bedford Midi for instance is a STAGGERING £400!!!!

Is the Amp ratinge easy to read off the back, or as usual, confuscated by a mishmash of part nos., codes and serials?

Will the diesely diesel one fit on Shepster's engine? If so I may have what you want.
