Propex Heat Source just how good is it ?

Post by gwa »

Hi

I am thinking of getting a Propex 1800 from Bluebird Customs but does anybody have some experiance of them ?

Ie: How easy to fit ? and this time of year how long to heat up my freezing Aircooled van ? oh and does it help clear the windscreen if you put it on 10 minutes before you go anywhere ?

regards

erm,

I was thniking about putting it under the bed / back seat so about half way through the bus. Where would you recommend ?

Is it man enough to heat the front from there or does the heat disipate before it gets to you ?

I dont think you can run propex whilst driving but you can with an Eberspacher diesel (dont quote me) I have a propex for camping and its brilliant if heavy on the battery esp on starting.

I've had a heatsource 1600 for 2yrs and am really pleased withit .I've got it under the bed.I use Artio for work so when its cold I switch it on for 10 mins before I go out and drive off and all is comfy& clear. I use mine on the run only thing is to remember to stop & switch off before going into a petrol station.Had a chat with the tec dept at propex when mine went in for repair and he says when you start to modify you get problems.

Mine was factory fitted by autohomes the manual clearly states in CAPITALS that it should not be used whilst the vehicle is in motion, nice to know that it can be done though.

I have a 1600, which works OK, but couldn't keep up with the heat-loss from my van at all (on a winters day) until I insulated the van properly.

I'd say get a Propex, but also you MUST put in decent insulation (poly foam NOT rockwool).
