Newbie Questions, What have I brought!

Post by lambro28 »

OK I know you should research and know what your buying, but apart from the clubman stickers, one front and one rear on the top, (the van has had a respray, I suspect these have been added) the camper has no markings.

Van is 1986 on a C plate, the engine code on the log book is CS but it is a TD lump, so its had and engine transplant?

From looking at a few for sale, the interior looks like an Autohomes, am I right??

The camper electrics did work when I brought the van, but for some reason dont now. If any one knows what interior I have where do the electrics for the fuse/control panel come down and to the battery.

The bed extra board is missing, any one know where I can buy another, or the carpet to make one.

Heater and hot water set up is missing as well, any one know what it would have had. In the last picture, the left lower cuboard has a grille on the outside of the van, boarded up hole in the floor, and the vents you can see in the cuboard door.

Im sure there will be hundreds more questions, but these will keep me quite for a while, thanks for any help you can give me!

the power comes from the leisure battery under the passenger seat. It too has a fuse nearby

all the fuses for the rest of the ancillaries are found in the control panel

there would have been a propex heater fitted in the left lower cupboard but no water heater was ever fitted to a C plate

it looks as if some stuff has been removed....thats a bummer

the bed did indeed have a pull out bit and also a ladder to get to the top bunk I'll post up a piccy of that soon

you may have trouble sourcing the bed shelf and ladder but one could be fashioned by yourself and the bunk upholstered

P.S. ... the fridge will freeze beer on No 3 setting (Gas) :D

Thank you, most kind.
Got all the electrics working again now, the leisure battery has been put in the wardrobe, so will be relocating that back to the seat position!
Yes the heater gas pipes and the electrics are all there, the thermostat as well, just the heater itself is missing. I take it this will be hard to replace, is there an alternative I can use?
The only reason I thought it might be hot and cold is there are two taps in the sink?

You can buy a brand new propex for it or a second hand one from ebay the new ones are around £300.

great if you intend on camping in the winter, spring and autumn seasons when it gets chilly at night
these guys seem to be the cheapest  http://www.caktanks.co.uk/

the hot water system may have been connected to the 230v hook up and it would have been an after-market device

by the way the leisure battery may not fit under the seat as it will probably be too tall not to worry though have a look on the wiki there are some batteries there that will fit..or measure the space and ask halfords for a normal car battery (65 a/h) that will fill the space priced around £50 I think
