Interesting, yes. I'd heard of Tatra but knew nothing about them, turns out they were really innovative. Check Wikipedia. Bit of a paradox but the original Beetle designer Ferdinand Porsche was said to have been influenced by the forward-thinking ideas of the Austrian Tatra designer at the time. So maybe an Aircooled V8 wouldn't be such an inappropriate thing to have in the back of a VW bus !
