Roll out awning thing?

Post by Clagmeister »

Hi,

I have a LHD 1982 westy and would like to fit one of those roll out awning things that fit above the sliding door. Have seen lots of them in pictures with westfalia decals on etc and have searched the usual places and can't seem to find one or what there actually called.

Any help much appreciated

thanks

Claggy

Hi

Try punching `Fiamma awning' or `Omnistor' in on E bay.that may do the trick.

Good luck

Got the Caravanstore roll-up awning on mine, fits to a P section rail (from Fiamma) that I`ve fitted to the gutter. Just need to watch the sliding door for fouling when you open it. Not a problem if you set the leg heights properly. Not a problem if you have a high-top, as you can put the rail higher up the roof (which will involve screw holes and screws, or mega strong double-sided tape :) )

Double sided tape is not as stupid as it first sounds :-) No-Nails do two types of double sided tape, one is supposed to be removable the other not, don't no how secure it would be, but is definatley worth a look if only for a laugh.

Foam type double sided tape can be very strong. It was often used to hold coin boxes in telephone kiosks in certain rough areas of the UK.

3M do some ultra strong foam double sided tape. I had some from a mate who worked where they manufactured coaches. They used it to stick the skin panels to the frame-work with no worries. I priced it up, it`s around 30 quid a roll.
