Syncro on the telly 2

Post by syncrosimon »

Just spotted another syncro, seen on Time Team at Turkdean. On Sky Discovery Civilisations 522 at the moment. A white panel van syncro with twin round headlights and alloy wheels. No sign of Dr Alice, but perhaps it is where she first came across them as she has connections with Time Team. I have only caught the last 20 min but is possibly repeated at 3.00pm. Just seen the titles and the programme would appear to have been filmed in 2003.
Cheers Simon.
PS Has anyone goy any info on how to get the electric engine heater working that is common on cold european spec syncro's. would like to get it working but dont know what voltage it is. It would appear to be 240v or 110v. The heater is like a small old fashioned kettle element fitted near the dipstick. It has a round plug with three round pin connectors.
Any ideas that will prevent electrocuting the family would be very welcome.

Cheers Cj, do you know if it has any sort of thermostat, or is it just a case of wiring it up with some sort of timer???

I think CJ meant 5 amp not 50. They need not be very sophisticated, my guess is they just heat up until the heat loss from the engine equals the input power. A big lump of metal like that should easily dissipate 250W.

A standard 16A? (blue) Hook up lead for a camper will connect to the plug on the van.
