help with westfalia high top screws...

Post by eastwesty »

Trying to fix a set of vertical roof bars to a westfalia high top, i seem to need to remove two plastic screws/plugs from the top of the high top to screw in the top attachment of each bar. the plugs don't seem to want to come out, and i don't want to get too aggressive unless i know i'm doing it right. does anyone know if these should just screw out? or might there be a nut underneath/inside to be removed? once out is there a metal thread underneath to screw straight into?

Hi chap,
Have you got van details please? I have some info available, but a pic would help as would date/model type etc :?

No promises of success, but will try,
Myk. :D

Sorry for the delay, bin busy.

Without a pic I am uncertain but, on the spares thing its either a pop top or high top, so should be yours.

The only reference I get is to 4 bolts (Oval head countersunk) or (Flat round head bolts).

Try phoning a VW dealer (commercial) parts dept and give 'em your chassis number. Then ask the bolts Q. It may help.

Will try to check back here tommorow in case you get pics up (or list one from the gallery thats the same?)

Hope this helps,

Myk. :D
