westfalia joker syncro's are they hard to find?

Post by horizontal kipper »

Hi all,

After buying a 2wd 1980 westfalia joker last year because of being without a camper due to taking our splitscreen camper off the road for a tidy up, now in its 3rd year of restoration
The joker was only to stay with us untill we had finished the resto. We both like the pratical & usefullness of both the T3 & westy layout so much that later in the year we are planning to sell both our campers to replace with a good westfalia joker syncro if we can find one. We had seen syncros about over the years but never realised a westfalia camper version was made till finding the club 80 90 forum. So i think now after 18yrs of Aircooled campers it maybe time to move forward.

Any info on how many were converted where to look for one would be great.

Thanks

Gill & Paul

Hi I noticed you are looking into westy syncros, I imported one for personal use a year or so ago, I am going to sell it as I am combining both of my syncros into one van, I aslo have a syncro multivan, so I am going to get another syncro multivan but with the poptop, I can't justify both vans
My westy is a 1987 westfalia poptop camping conversion
pretty much the same as a joker but built on a white caravelle syncro,
previous owners put in 1.9L petrol which does a good job, but I think it
had something bigger in there before, so if you have abigger engine, this
could be a great home for it. R+F diff locks again powersteering, auxillary
heating, double glazing LPG tank underneath, just had the exhaust fixed
and new tyres all round. so that one should go to a good home for £4750
both vans are good examples of their kinds and will give their new
owners lots of fun.The vans are living with us in falmouth, cornwall.
Please call if you are interested on 07939569616 I will sort some pix at at
the weekend. Please feel free to harass CJ for the dirty low down on these
vans (cheers CJ)
P.S I will be looking for a syncro multivan with a poptop as with 2 kids I
want lots of seats as well as 2 beds, germany here I come !
