mot failure

Post by Ray »

failed mot today, first time for years. A few little bits really - mainly steering rack gaiter - I am sure it was ok, looks like they gave a good pulling etc. I had poly bushes fitted only couple of weeks ago and they were alright then. Still, may as well do both sides I guess. I think I,l let the garage do it - different garage though. Also slightly high emissions? new engine only done 1,300 miles. Does that mean rich, its a 2.1 fuel injection usually running lpg. Low effort on handbrake too. They couldn't put it on roller as its a syncro so its done the old way and it seems a bit arbitary now that the computer is involved - less room for human discretion? Anyway, could be worse I guess.

They said to switch it to the tesco basics when I took it in. They have never tested it on lpg even when I had my A/C van 3 years ago.

for dual fuel vehicles the MOT Tester will Test the vehicle according to which fuel is being used when it is presented for Test.

  • Kev beat me to it

If you drive in on Gas they must test on gas. If you drive in on Liquid Gold they have to test on that.
Facts come from my son-in-law who is a MOT inspector/tester (and NO he does not do MOT's on my van.)
