heater control valve question

Post by uglyboatman »

while doing some checks on the van yesterday i thought i would see if i could find out why the van needs topping up with coolant quite a lot, because i couldnt see any leaks in the pipes in the engine bay.

When i was checking the radiator pipes i noticed it was wet on one of the heater pipes, and when i started the van up a trickle appears.

Looking closer it looks like it is coming from the center on the outside of the plastic heater valve, on a part where i can imagine it pivoting inside.

Am i right to think this is a new replacement job ? or can i repair it - i had a look on justkampers/gsf and cannot find any reference to it, so might be a problem getting a new one?

By a strange coincidence this was exactly the thread topic I was going to start today...

My heater control valve started dripping, so it went into the garage (didnt have time to do it myself), they put in a bit of pipe for the time being... and now coolant is gushing out :?

So I will be getting a new heater control valve thingy :D

I'll PM you cj.
