Strengthened chassis rails

Some chassis members have a filler cap inside and flanged holes, others are open so you see the floor.
Long discussion on SyncroDoubleCabs about what vehicles have this and what don't - seems a bit of a lottery.
And the ?, what's behind it, a load carrying option?
What has yours got?

Yes they do
This one though is new to me, I wonder what Russel or CJ have to say on the chassis strengthening, what they've seen and what they haven't - which models etc.

No actually, I think all reported ones are not Dokas, but caravelles and vans that perhaps? have double-sliders or full-length sunroofs.
Interesting those swaged slots for stiffening too.. makes me think the floorpans that the top-hat beam is spotted to might be concertinaring (?) under bending loads. Apparently the filler has holes for draining in it too, but you can't push your finger in and touch the floor, its probably about 3/4 way up the section towards the floor.
Am also wondering whether it was a mandatory fit for some models due to crash energy absorption, to stop the section buckling prematurely - as in a TUV requirement - just a thought.
Think none pre '87

Have just had alook under my 16" and the chassis rails look just like the ones in the photo's. the chassis number is WV2ZZZ25ZMG018895
It is a factory high top, single sliding door and bulkhead.
The chassis cut out have flanges on them, but you can see the floor.
Is the photo of a strengthened, or normal one??
cheers
simon.

The photos shows both... the flanged one has the stiffening/strengthening filler plate, the other doesn't - agree, not perfect photos for illustration but then it's difficult and they were the ones presented.
If any are interested enough to comment on whether they appear to have these or not, please mention the year, body type, sunroof type and double slider/single slider...
