glow plugs - more of a rant!

Post by Other-Power »

Hey all,

i had a week of from collage and i was to busy to change the plugs on my van engine. i went to start it this morning and found that it wouldnt start! after much debating i went and started to take of the glow plugs, started by removing the pipes from the pump to the injectors so i could safely remove the two glow plugs at the back of the engine using a 12mm socket. after taking of the buss bar i got the other two plugs of under the pump of and they cam out easier then i thought as i have been told they were difficult to do. Called up local VAG and they wanted £13 a plug !!!!!!!!!! so called up GSF and got them for around £6 each. they should be here tomrrow, i wait and hope!

My point is, make room for changing the glow plugs as they can let you down, i thought i would be ok seeing as i had just driven 2000 miles last week. and after testing, turns out only one yes one of them was working third one in from the back of the van.

Thanks like i say more of a rant then anything else.

I couldn't afford £13 each at the time - so i went for some cheaper ones from a local autofactors.

I will see how they get on - if they are rubbish then i wont be suprised and will get the more expensive ones.

Its not that hard a job so i wont be too upset if i have to do it again!
