UPDATE
ive just had a look at the van again this morning and started it from cold.sure enough water was dripping from the water pump and i can feel the tapping/slight grinding on the housing.come to think of it ive always had to top it up on long trips and i put this down to it being hot.
so how much do you think im looking at for a new one fitted?

Oh dear, yep it's a terminal pump I reckon.
me oppo over the road had steam a'comin out the nearside vent at the end, he was toppin' it up for a few months aswell
If I remember right he was charged £60 inc pump to fit .
The old pump was a pig to shift apparently.
