1600 CT Aircooled engine, carburettors and inlet manifolds

Post by Ben rhodes »

I have just bought a new lump for my 1981 Aircooled T25 camper. It is a 1600 CT engine from Big Boys Toys. I am having trouble finding carbs to fit this engine, I have been advised that there are no aftermarket carbs available for it and that only an original or reconditioned carb will fit.

Firstly does anyone know if there are new carbs available that will fit my new lump? Ideally I would like to fit twin carbs for maximum power.

Secondly my inlet manifold for the carbs is shot. I have been told that these are no longer being manufactured for this particlular engine. Is this true? If not does anyone know where I can pick them up?

Why would anyone buy a CT engine? The reason I sold my first T25 was that it had a CT engine-couldn't pull you foreskin back let alone 2t of bus.Maximum power you're avin a laugh!

Yeah unfrotunately it is a CT. My old lump blew and I naively thought it would be cheaper/easier to replace it and use the existing tinware etc...! I now regret this decision!

Does anyone know a good breakers that may stock parts?
