LPG MPG

Post by Aidan »

The oft asked question, but what do people actually get in mpg with lpg on a 1.9DG with the simple open system
Hitop camper with recon engine and gentle right foot does 25+ on petrol, less than 17 on gas.
Does anyone actually get better on a comparable vehicle

MPG

Post by Rooster »

Steve did my conversion about 2 years ago and up untill Sept I had a 2.1gli on a 5 speed box, the box went bang so I (Shiplake Motors) fitted a 4 speed box ( I love it) Not as fast but it's not the speed that matters.
I get ~22.9mpg driving to work on country lanes, motorway and Sheffield traffic. ~16mpg pulling a 970kg caravan. The fuel consumption using the 4 speed box is 1.5mpg worse that the 5 speed.

LPG at Morrisons in Sheffield is 34.9ppl and you get points which give you a £5 voucher when the miles build up.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I vote we make Steve a saint. :D

mpg lpg 1.9 dg

Post by ermie571 »

hi beaker - seems mine is pretty much the same as yours... 1.9dg running lpg. (pop top not high top, but light right foot)
Went to Wales the other week. 17mpg on motorway there. Turned it down a quarter (as advised by Pete) on th Tuesday, and again on thurdsay. No power loss.
19mpg on the way home (and that was carrying the new 2.1 lump as well)
well chuffed.
The most recent fill was over 130 miles ago - she has just dropped to two lights - convenient as the new morrisons has opened with the cheapest gas around these parts at 37.4p/lt

Can vouch for Steve's after sales service too!!

Why pay someone else to fix it for you when you can waste 2 months doing it yourself!

14mpg round town/short distances is about right never used to get more than 17 running around on IoM...
Now on a run it can vary a great deal I can get 15mpg - 24mpg

head winds drive me crazy and tail winds are great...
Oh and I am traveling at 70-80mph for about 3 hours either side of Paris..

I have been doing 670 km each way for the last few weeks.. and getting anywhere between 430 and 630 km on a tank full (normally 76L @80%)

I have noticed the difference in fuel quality too.. in Belgium France and UK.. it runs richer or weaker depending on where I fill.. (lambda probe readout) performance seems about the same though..

This is on a 2.1 DJ'd "DG" caravelle
