knocking front wheel

hi my front wheel sounds like theres a knocking when i brake.any1 know what this means ?

hi there now i dont know weather it is this as im no techie but i had a bit of a knocking noise coming from my rear wheel the other day sounded like i had a carrier bag stuck round me wheel and it was hitting the bottom of my van everytime the wheel went round, now i know this may sound dumb but have u checked your wheel nuts are tight because thats what mine was the wheel had started to come loose and the nuts were only finger tight i tightening them and all was well, i know it sounds stupid but some times its the simplist things that u dont check any way hope this helps a bit

might be worth jacking it up and checking to see if there's any play in the wheel bearing if so nip up the hub nut till you can just move the washer behind it and don't forget to re pein the shoulder of the nut into the groove
on the stub axle
