My wedge has a 90amp alternator (from an Audi). My present battery is starting to lose any charge fairly rapidly (3 years old now) - what kind of battery would suit this alternator and have plenty of power left over if needed?
Any thoughts? Presumably a stock battery wouldn't really be a perfect match. Present one is a longer battery - fills compartment but my knowledge of batteries isn't great.
What Battery For 90amp Alternator?

What I did was carefully measure the space available and go to my local factor then say can I get the biggest that will fit in these dimensions - the bloke said ok come and look thro the stock with your tape measure. I should go and look for what code is on the battery and tell you, shouldn't I? .....

hi guys
the thing to remember with batteries is that the the physically largest aren't always the best. ask at the motor factors about the highest ah rating that will fit into the available space. sometimes a "smaller" battery can have better performance and any motor factor worth their salt should know that.
i have experience of buying batteries for earth moving machinery and it's a minefield but sometimes it's worth paying a bit more for something that may look smaller but in electrical terms is actually better
cheers
