Fridge Servicing?

Post by Swampy »

Evening All,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a Camping Fridge Engineer/Servicer in the Kent (I'm in Dover) area?

When I finally get my 3-way Electrolux fridge lit there's an awful stink of gas, despite me checking that there are no leaks in the gas supply to the fridge.

I've been told by Pa-In-Law that the exhaust & rear of the fridge needs a good clean out, but I thought of getting an Engineer to have a look to see if they can also improve the ignition somewhat.

Is there any point to me looking or am I looking at getting a new fridge?

Headley18 is a member here and may travel although he is based in Basingstoke so you may have to travel to him. Well worth it though, stink of gas doesn't sound healthy at all, he will sort your fridge out good & proper !
He got my Electrolux back up on gas which makes a huge difference.

Sorry for the tardy reply, I've been out of action for the past week.

Yes, the fridge constantly smells of gas, but the fridge does get cold after a few hours.

First time we ever used the fridge was when Charlotte and I were in France for a couple of days & I had the fridge lit all day.

No problem during the day as the Van was open at all times. Problem came when we locked up for the night. The smell was quite strong, so we turned it off.

I've tested it s couple of times since. It's a pig to start initially, but when I eventually do manage to get it lit it does smell quite strongly of gas.

Would it be safer to bite the bullet & get a new fridge? Money's always fun to find, but I'd rather a reliable fridge than one that might gas our Little 'Un!

I'd get it serviced if it's a 3way fridge..would get rid if it's the old 2 way.

Sounds like your fridge flue pipe has come away from the outside vent...simple enough to check it.

Don't run it on gas until you check out the flue system.

Hi Tex.

I've replied to your email. Any advice would be welcome.

If there's anything I can do myself I'll gladly have a go. Let's face it I can't make it worse (except perhaps turn the supply pipe into a flamethrower :D ).

It is indeed a 3-Way Fridge.
