1Y Ecomatic pump - Weaslechin ??

Post by Kermit »

I am finally getting around to swapping the engine with a 1Y 1.9 from a golf ecomatic.

Weaslechin, I spoke to you last year as you were doing the same conversion, I have got around the imobiliser and the solenoid below the plastic is switching with 12v on to it, I have also blanked off the switch inbetween the injector pipes.

Right, see the pic below, well what is "A" and what does "B" do?

Putting 12v on "A" does nothing, I assumed this was the stop solenoid, if it is it aint working.

I thought "B" had something to do with the cold start? what did you do with this, is it also a solenoid or a switch?

Thanks

Kerr

ahh, photos !! connect (A) up, scrap ALL of the rest. dont worry about (B) its a cold start, you dont need it, but you really do need to get the pump timing %100. how did you sort the immobiliser ? hammer and chisel job ?

A is a full load cut soleniod, connect to same wire as fuel cut off.
B is cold idle boost, this type does not adjust timing, leave it disconnected.

there you go, you heard it twice!!!!
did you chisel the immobiliser off, or use a more subtle method of extraction ??

Thanks Both

Regarding the immobilser, yep I used the good old fashoined 'sledge and wedge' method, although once you remove enough of the plastic to get some molies on the nut it did unscrew.

So can I assume that 'A' is not working if nothing happens when 12v is applied? cannot seem to find it on ETKA for a part number or find a part number on it

OK, good stuff, I shall wait until I get the engine in and connected up properly in a week or so until I worry any more about that then.
