Electric windows....again!

Post by KarlT »

Hi

Right finally stripped out Drivers window assembly.

Window slides up & down quite freely now.

A few Q's......

Getting it out I've snapped the bit (technical term) that holds the window frame to the cable. (slidey bit on right)

Can this be repaired?

Can you still buy the assembly new?

How about window rubbers?

Is this a straight forward job?

I've been looking on ebay & there is loads of VW window motors, Sharans, Golfs & so on.

Will any of these fit the T25?

Whats best way of cleaning/lube the cables on the old kit?

Although I can't really help with the problem, I will add this.... The electric window disintegrated on my Mother in Law's Polo. I went to GT Autospares - a VW breaker in Manchester to get a replacement and Geoff, the owner, said it had been a quiet day - it was 12:00 and he'd only been asked for them 4 times!

It seems the Polo ones are a bit fragile

No.

The motors are the same as on..believe it or not......Seat Ibiza GLX's.
You know the old System Porsche ones...not much chance of finding any in the scrappies really but you never know.
Also for new try www.eurocarparts.com quoting part number: 492441680(offside) or 492441690(nearside).
These are complete regulators with motors but they are only showing the offside one in stock for £94.76.
