T25 water cooled exhusts ?

Post by sandringham »

Quick rant.

I am fed up with garages "seeing me coming" My exhaust is blowing (only from a joint as far as I can see) and I've had a garage tell me I need a new silencer (£220) and 4 other bit plus fitting kit (total qoute £500 inc labour). Now this seems excessive to me. If I repair the leak with bandage will that get me though an MOT do you think (due in April). I really love my autosleeper but cannot afford that kind of money at the moment so any help or advice would be much appriciated. I am in Norfolk so if anyone knows of an honest garage or mechanic then please let me know.

Thanks S

Mmm.. get a system from GSF or JK..

the biggest headache is the exhaust studs, if they are shot then its a bit of hassle to get them out..
Garages dont like old vehicles for this reason and the owners dont want to pay the money.. catch 22....

There was a beetle specialist near Kings Lynn... dont know if he is still about.
I would offer, but I just dont have the time available.. (inlaws are in Downham Market)

Not trying to be an expert on the exhaust .When i was was on the tools doing welding some of the guys used to bring in exhaust boxes .I used to do a wrap round then mig it up or bronze where it was a difficult area round pipe flanges to box.If you no some one near you with welding skills try them.Only a suggestion
