speedo problems

hi there. we have just picked up our camper and the speedo jumps right round of the scale whenever u r in motion, even at very slow speeds it reads off the dial. any siggestions of where the fault is?

Sounds like an internal fault somwhere. I don`t think a dodgy cable would cause this. Speedo out job isn`t hard to do, depends how brave you are to pull it to bits and have a look-see. It does sound like the internal frictio-drive part is sticking and "over-driving" the needle. Do the mileage wheels trip round fast as well or just the needle?

Second-hand speedo isn`t expensive or hard to find, nothing to loose really :)

This will sound mad but i had a problem like that caused by the cable freezing up in the winter

hmm well hubby has just taken it to get fuel. its -3 this morning and worked fine :? now we are more confused lol. will keep an eye on it

pull the cover off the top of the instrument panel , and just check that the speedo is plugged in all the way , also check that the pin is in at the road wheel end
