Have you fired it up with the exhaust, yet and if so how loud is it, currently in process of installing Cosworth engine in Crewcab, wondering if I should make a short exhaust and come out of back or run forward down crewcab, bend 180 degrees and come out of sides etc, to keep it nice and quiet.
Another supplier of SS exhaust parts below, and they have lesser bends, eg 30 degrees etc and all different parts/diameters

Can anyone see what wall thickness those Jetex tubes are? I can't, presume 16swg/0.064"/ 1.628mm

Fin, bottom line...
A very interesting site / forum for VW T25 Van Fans
Splitty and Bay owners wouldn't find us much fun I expect, though they'd not be cold shouldered if they wanted to have a chat

Hey Fin,
I was not crashing your thread, I was looking around myself at exhausts for my cossy motor as performance manifolds are either none existant or people want to bend me over their counter and grease me up.
I am a qualified welder and have fabbed systems for all manner of conversions in the past buy always used mild instead of stainless.
Your stuff looks pretty good and when the motor is in its final resting place I will decide on how to do the system, basically I was going to bolt the full cosworth system to the install and take it from there.
As I stated, I want a lovely exhaust that purrs quietly when tickling it, but the cossy motor realy comes alive when the loud pedal is pressed after 4000rpm, so at them kind of revs, I want it to really come alive and sound like a racing car etc.
The idea behind firing the system down the chassis and the returning it out was a report by a friend who said he lost 15% BHP by changing the design of his exhaust!!
The junction between the cast manifolds and a stainless system, would this not make the cast manifold the weaker part (think its called anode), If this is the case, I could make a sacrifical piece easily replaced (yeah right, seen how tight the install is).
Will keep you posted Fin
Anyhow, how does this exhaust sound then?

I used Jetex mild steel bends to get from near the manifold to the first box on my inline 4 conversion and they seemed pretty good (easier for the amateur to weld). The rest of the system is a bodge made from what was lying around (part Golf GTI, part Audi 80, part Landrover) but when this lot rots apart (won't be long as it gets the crap from the rear wheels all over it) I think forward running/side exit is the way to go as the total system bends through the best part of a circle at the moment and that cannot be good for the flow.
The flexible bits on Fin's site look just the thing to replace the GTI flexible down pipes that was a sticking point in this idea. Fin one comment - when I view your site at work some of the text is too large and overlaps the boxes, this is probably because my screen size / text setings are different to the optimum you designed it for but it would be better to code it so that the text is not affected by screen or Windows settings.

Why does the not quite finished job before last always conspire with the not quite started job after next to make what you should be doing now harder?
